About

Jacki Bruniquel is a top South African photographer known for her creative portraiture and authentic way of being in the world.

After completing a Fine Art degree at Michaelis (UCT), she spent years backpacking around the world. Upon returning home, she completed a Photography Diploma at Durban University of Technology, whilst exploring mixed media art.

Life nudged her into the world of weddings, and over time, her work received multiple international awards, which led to her being featured on numerous lists naming her as one of the top wedding photographers in the world. During this period, she captured celebrations across the globe — from Cape Town to the Karoo, to the Caribbean, India, and Europe.

A natural teacher, Jacki created the popular Unstuck Yourself workshop series, inspiring photographers across South Africa. She has also spoken at numerous photography expos and conferences, sharing her insights and experiences with both emerging and established creatives.

The 2020 lockdown brought a turning point. Following a deep personal reckoning — including a diagnosis of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis — Jacki felt called to slow down and use her photography with greater intention. From this emerged 40ish & Flourishing, a transformative portrait experience celebrating women in midlife and beyond. Working in a studio, she watched women bloom before her lens. The heartfelt testimonials confirmed what she already sensed: the camera can be a powerful tool for healing.

Ironically, the same year, Jacki was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy. During her recovery, she created this print shop as a way to generate passive income — and to continue sharing her vision, even while healing.
